Air Traffic
Though Panyu city has no airport in its territory, however, within a radius of 60 kilometers, there are five major international airports providing speedy and convenient access to other places. In the city center, there are several commission agents for cargo shipments by airplane.

Though Panyu city has no railways in its territory, however, just half an hour's drive away comes the largest railway station in South China- the Guangzhou City Railway Service. Also within half an hour to one hour's drive away from Panyu city are other railway terminuses for Guangzhou-Beijing railway line, Beijing-Kawloon line, and Guangzhou-Kawloon line. In the city center, there are some commission agents for cargo shipments by railway.

Water Carriage
Panyu city features the confluent estuary of the three main branches of the Pearl River System, namely, the East Branch, the West Branch and the North Branch. Within the territory, the artery and sub-branches of the Pearl River are the main navigation channels between Guangzhou and other destinations like Hong Kong, Macao and other countries in the world. Likewise, the upper reaches of these rivers also serve as the vital navigation channel for destinations to other cities and provinces in the mainland. The inland waterways in the city are well-developed for transportation, with the artery channels lengthening at 816 kilometers and vehicle ships exceeding 5000 in number and a total tonnage of 50 thousand.

Sea Ports
Three open ports have been set up in the city, they are the Shiqiao Port, the Lotus Hill Port and the Nansha Port. The city has 27 checking lots for container trucks and 2 passenger seaport terminals for boder exit and entry - one in the Lotus Hill Township and the other in Nansha ETDZ. Panyu is the one and only city at the township level in China to have two open ports. The Lotus Hill open port, which has already gone into operation, has two deep-water berths of one thousand tonnage. And the east bank of the Seagull Islet, which is still under construction, has a deepwater coastline of 1,250 meters long, ships of five thousand tonnage can take anchorage there. The Nansha Port, part of which has been finished with the construction work, boasts a deepwater coastline of 7 kilometers long with the water reaching 9 to 15 meters deep, it is one of China's topmost Class-A open-ports. Currently Nansha Port has been built one berth of 10 thousand tonnage and two berths of 25 thousand tonnage, and it has been approved of its opening to foreign ships. In all, there serve on a daily basis 18 regular passenger liners plying to and from Hong Kong by the Passenger Seaport Terminals in Lotus Hill Township and in the Nansha ETDZ with the one-way journey only lasting one hour to one hour and thirty minutes. In the year of 1998, the export-and-import cargo handling volume by all ports in the city reached 3.86 million tons, and the number of passengers crossing the border was 1.2 million. For the convenience of border crossing by passengers and the import and export of goods, a full range of well-equipped, multifunctional, and efficient organizations have been set up concerning the port-related affairs and services. These are the Customs Offices, Frontier Inspection Office, Sanitary Inspection Bureau, Animal and Plant Quarantine Bureau, Commodity Inspection and Testing Bureau, and Harbor Superintendence.
